DOTr deploys 4th TBM for Metro Manila Subway Project

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has deployed its fourth tunnel boring machine (TBM) for the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP), aiming to accelerate drilling activities.

This new TBM will focus on excavating the segment between Camp Aguinaldo and Anonas, with a projected completion time of at least six months to reach Anonas.

The machine is capable of creating a tunnel of up to nine meters per day.

Another TBM is currently being assembled and is expected to be deployed in Camp Aguinaldo within two months.

Two previously deployed machines have already completed over 1,000 meters of tunneling between Camp Aguinaldo and Ortigas.

Currently, a total of eight TBMs are in operation across multiple segments of the MMSP, spanning Valenzuela, Quezon City, and Pasig.

DOTr officials state that the addition of more TBMs will significantly reduce project completion time.
