DOTr allows 268 buses on NIA Road to ease commuter woes

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has permitted nearly 300 buses to use NIA Road in Quezon City to alleviate commuter difficulties.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has issued 268 special permits for this purpose.

Buses will operate on NIA Road during peak hours, from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the arrangement subject to review.

These buses will travel from Sapang Palay, via Commonwealth Avenue, East Avenue, Internal Road, and NIA Road, before returning.

DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez stated that this measure aims to prevent commuters, especially seniors and persons with disabilities, from walking long distances to transfer to other rides like the MRT-3.
