DOT launches GolfEx to boost PH golf tourism

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has launched the first Philippine Golf Experience (GolfEx) program to attract more local and foreign golfers to the country's golf courses.

This initiative aims to establish the Philippines as a top golf destination in the region, building on the DOT's Philippine Experience Program.

The launch event at Mimosa Plus Golf Course in Clark, Pampanga included lessons and a tournament for diplomats, enthusiasts, and professional players.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco highlighted golf tourism's potential to create jobs, strengthen businesses, and foster community pride, emphasizing its high-value and low-impact nature.

Secretary Frasco noted that the Philippines is a popular golf destination for visitors from South Korea, Japan, and the US, and the DOT is looking to expand its appeal to other markets.

Elisa Bulawit of the Professional Golfers Association of the Philippines believes that promoting golf offers significant opportunities for the country, given the competitiveness of its courses and adjacent travel spots.
