DOLE prepares second job fair for POGO-displaced workers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is organizing a second job fair in November to assist Filipino workers displaced by the ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma stated the event is scheduled for the second or third week of November and may extend over a weekend to encourage participation.

He is coordinating with employers to allow affected workers to attend without facing penalties for their absence.

This follows a job fair on October 10 where 340 job seekers registered, resulting in 33 immediate hires.

The DOLE is profiling displaced workers to tailor support services, including livelihood programs and upskilling/reskilling initiatives.

They are also collaborating with the Department of Migrant Workers for overseas employment opportunities.

The upcoming job fair's venue is being finalized and will be strategically located near POGO hubs.
