DOLE to hold 63 job fairs on May 1 with 37,000 vacancies

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will host 63 job fairs across the country on May 1 to celebrate Labor Day, offering approximately 37,000 job vacancies.

These job fairs will feature 452 participating employers looking to fill numerous positions.

The manufacturing sector offers the largest number of jobs with 8,000 vacancies, followed by business process outsourcing (4,000), retail (3,000), finance and insurance (2,000), and food and accommodation (1,000).

Around 1,000 overseas employment opportunities will also be available.

From January to early April this year, DOLE facilitated the employment of 3,572 jobseekers through 128 job fairs, making available 244,000 job vacancies from 2,253 employers.

The job fairs were held in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to bring government services closer to the people, with DOLE coordinating efforts with agencies such as the DSWD and DOH.

Industries with high demand for workers included information technology and business process management (IT-BPM), transport and logistics, hotel and restaurant services, manufacturing, and wholesale and retail trade.
