DOJ to investigate Atong Ang's inclusion in missing sabungero case

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to conduct a preliminary investigation to determine if businessman Charlie "Atong" Ang can be included as an additional accused in the missing sabungero case.

Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon stated that Ang will be given a chance to refute allegations during the preliminary investigation.

Previously, Ang was not among the accused in the Manila Arena cases.

The new investigation stems from the indictment of Ang and others for multiple counts of kidnapping with homicide and serious illegal detention.

Former Ang aide Julie "Dondon" Patidongan, the main accused in the existing kidnapping and serious illegal detention case, may be dropped as an accused and replaced by Ang.

Dondon testified how Ang instructed giving "punishment" to cheating sabungeros, while his brother Ellakim is an eyewitness to how the sabungeros were transported and killed.

Both Dondon and his brother Ellakim were dropped in the most recent case of kidnapping with homicide, while a kidnapping and serious illegal detention case was filed against Ang and 21 others.
