DOJ eyes technical divers for missing sabungeros in Taal Lake

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla is considering the use of technical divers to search for the 34 missing sabungeros in Taal Lake, Batangas.

This move is prompted by a whistleblower's claim that the sabungeros were strangled and their bodies dumped in the lake.

A composite team of technical divers from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Navy will be deployed to Taal Lake to look for the remains.

Remulla acknowledged the credibility of the possibility that the sabungeros are dead, given the lack of any trace of them.

The accused witness claimed that the missing sabungeros are buried in Taal Lake along with other individuals.

He also expressed a willingness to turn state's evidence and is ready to name the mastermind at the appropriate time.
