DOJ assures anti-terror bill to undergo thorough review
The Department of Justice (DOJ) aims to complete its review of the Anti-Terrorism bill within 15 days.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra stated that the DOJ will work on an internal timetable of 15 days, starting June 9.
Guevarra mentioned that the DOJ's comments will focus on constitutionality and will be submitted to the Office of the President (OP) for inclusion in the memo for the President.
He assured that the DOJ will endeavor to clarify the parameters for the implementation and enforcement of the law in its implementing rules and regulations (IRR) to prevent misapplication or abuse.
Guevarra also clarified that the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC), once formed, will essentially be a policy-making body.
