DOJ subpoenas Atong Ang, Gretchen Barretto over missing sabungeros

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued subpoenas to businessman Charlie "Atong" Ang, actress Gretchen Barretto, former Metro Manila police chief Gen. Jonnel Estomo, 18 police officers, and approximately 57 other respondents regarding the disappearance of sabungeros.

DOJ Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic Clavano IV confirmed that subpoenas have been issued to about 60 respondents, with the service of the subpoenas still ongoing due to the number of individuals involved.

Ang and Barretto are among those facing charges of multiple murder and serious illegal detention, which were filed by the families of the missing sabungeros.

Both Ang and Barretto have denied the allegations.

The preliminary investigation will determine if charges will be filed in court.
