DOJ endorses Andres as acting NBI director

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is endorsing Undersecretary Jesse Andres to serve as the acting director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) following the resignation of Director Jaime Santiago.

DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano stated that the department has also recommended Justice Assistant Secretary Eliseo Cruz as the acting NBI officer-in-charge.

Clavano explained that Andres, as the head of the law enforcement cluster, is being endorsed to align with the NBI's position under the DOJ.

Director Santiago submitted his irrevocable resignation effective immediately upon the appointment of his successor.

In his letter to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Santiago cited "detractors and those who have sinister interest" in his position for incessantly making moves to besmirch his reputation.
