DOH asks PNP to stop minors from vaping

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa has formally requested the Philippine National Police (PNP) to enforce regulations preventing minors from accessing e-cigarettes or vapes.

Herbosa expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of vape use among the youth, noting a rise to 14% compared to a decrease in traditional tobacco use.

Pulmonologists have reported cases of "e-cigarette-related lung injury" among patients under 18 years old.

Under current law, individuals aged 18 and above are the only ones permitted to use vapes, yet sales to minors remain a widespread issue and these products are openly sold.

The Health secretary emphasized the crucial role of parents in educating and guiding their children to avoid vape usage.
