DOH to appeal mandate on face shields in hospitals

The Department of Health (DOH) is prepared to appeal any decision to mandate face shields only in hospitals, according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Duque stated that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) will discuss the matter to reach a consensus.

He emphasized that face shields provide an additional layer of protection against COVID-19, and it is better to have this added protection than none.

This comes after Senate President Vicente Sotto III announced that President Rodrigo Duterte had agreed to limit face shield use to hospitals.
