DOH Sec Duque admits mistake on COVID-19 curve statement

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III corrected his earlier statement about the Philippines' COVID-19 infection curve flattening, clarifying that he realized he made a mistake rather than being reprimanded.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that Duque personally called him to admit he used the wrong wording.

Roque emphasized that mistakes are common, even among media professionals, and the correction was simply a matter of fixing the record.

Duque had initially claimed the curve had flattened in April, but later revised this to say it had "bent."

He further clarified that the country's case doubling time in April had surpassed the three-day mark.
