DOH reports 782 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 782 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, November 3, 2022, bringing the total active cases to 18,392.

This marks the third consecutive day the country recorded daily cases below 1,000.

The nationwide total of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 4,006,635, with 3,924,064 recoveries and 64,179 deaths.

These new infections are slightly higher than the 775 cases recorded on Wednesday.

Metro Manila continues to lead the list of regions with the most number of cases in the past two weeks with 4,355 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 2,624 and Western Visayas with 1,577.

Quezon City registered the most individual cases with 1,062, followed by Cavite with 934 and Davao Del Sur with 815.

These figures were reported despite the detection of the XBB Omicron subvariant and the XBC variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, both believed to be highly immune-evasive.

The new infections reflect 8,401 tests conducted on Nov. 1, a number significantly lower than the usual daily average of over 15,000 tests.
