DOH reports 421 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) detected 421 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide total to 2,839,111.

Of the newly reported cases, 410 were recorded in the last 14 days, from December 15 to December 28, 2021.

The current active COVID-19 cases in the country are at 9,750, with varying degrees of severity.

Total recoveries have reached 2,778,148 with 248 additional patients recovering from the virus.

The death toll has risen to 51,213 following two new fatalities, which were from previous months due to delayed reporting.

The DOH revised the total tally after deleting duplicates and recoveries that were found to be negative.

The nationwide health system remains at low risk with 18% of intensive care unit beds occupied and 10% of mechanical ventilators in use.
