DOH receives 100K test kits from China

The Department of Health (DOH) has received a donation of 100,000 test kits for COVID-19 from the Chinese government.

The DOH has distributed 25,000 of these test kits to five subnational laboratories: Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu, San Lazaro Hospital in Manila, Baguio General Hospital, and Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) is committed to finishing backlogs within three days.

This means the public can expect COVID-19 test results within 24 to 48 hours.

The DOH also previously received 5,000 test kits from Singapore, which are undergoing validation.

The Philippines has also received 4,167 test kits from China capable of processing 100,000 tests, which are also being distributed.
