DOH-NCR asks public to follow new normal protocols

The Department of Health-National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) urges the public to adhere to "new normal" protocols to prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 cases.

DOH-NCR regional director Corazon Flores stressed that controlling COVID-19 requires cooperation between the government and citizens.

Key measures include maintaining social distancing, practicing regular hand washing, wearing protective equipment, and strengthening immune systems.

As of May 10, the NCR recorded 6,993 COVID-19 cases, representing about 65% of the country's total cases which stood at 10,794.

The region also reported 521 fatalities and 1,384 recoveries.

While some cities in Metro Manila are experiencing a slowdown in the doubling time of COVID-19 cases, from two to three days to five to six days, the Metro Manila Council has requested a 15-day extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) beyond May 15.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) is currently considering this recommendation.
