DOH reports drop in new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported a decrease in new COVID-19 cases nationwide, with 11,667 infections recorded from May 22 to May 28, marking the first decline after 12 consecutive weeks of increases.

The daily average case count also dropped by 6% compared to the previous week.

No new COVID-19 related deaths were reported during the specified period.

Despite the overall decrease in cases, 105 additional severe and critical COVID-19 cases were admitted to hospitals, bringing the total to 554.

As of May 28, 10.1% of total COVID-19 hospital admissions were severe or critical cases.

The utilization rate for COVID-19 beds remains low, with 21.8% of ICU beds and 23.2% of non-ICU beds occupied.

As of March 19, 78.4 million Filipinos have completed their primary vaccination series against COVID-19, surpassing the government's target.

Additionally, 82.16% of the target senior citizen population have received their primary vaccine series.
