DOH reports 983 new COVID-19 cases in a week

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 983 new COVID-19 infections from March 6 to 12, an increase from the 913 cases logged the previous week.

The daily average of cases for the recent week was 140, an 8% rise from the previous week's average.

This marks the fourth consecutive week with daily cases below 1,000.

During the week of March 6 to 12, 58 verified deaths were reported.

As of March 12, there were 351 severe and critical cases admitted in hospitals, a decrease from the previous week's 395.

The country's ICU bed utilization rate was 13.4% with 265 out of 1,982 beds used, and this is the 12th straight week that the COVID-19 ICU bed utilization rate is below 20 percent.

The non-ICU bed utilization rate was at 17.1% with 2,916 out of 17,075 beds used.

As of March 12, at least 78,438,601 individuals are vaccinated against COVID-19, with 23,801,071 receiving booster shots.
