DOH logs 1,678 new COVID-19 cases, 83,673 total

The Department of Health (DOH) announced 1,678 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the Philippines to 83,673.

The majority of the new cases were reported in the National Capital Region, followed by Laguna, Cebu, and Cavite.

There were 173 new recoveries, increasing the total number of recovered patients to 26,617.

There were four additional deaths, bringing the total death toll to 1,947.

Of the new deaths, two occurred in July and two in June, with fatalities from the National Capital Region and Region 7.

The ages of the fatalities are 32, 47, 60, and 80 years old.

Thirty-four duplicates and 11 false positives were removed from the total case count.
