DOH identifies Metro Manila hospitals for 'Big One' earthquake response

The Department of Health (DOH) has identified primary hospitals in Metro Manila that will serve as the main healthcare facilities in the event of a major earthquake, referred to as the 'Big One'.

DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa stated that these hospitals are designated as the primary healthcare access points across the four quadrants of Greater Metro Manila.

The North Quadrant, encompassing cities like Caloocan, Quezon City, Valenzuela, and Mandaluyong, will be served by the Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, East Avenue Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Children's Medical Center, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium, San Lorenzo Ruiz Women's Hospital, Valenzuela Medical Center, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and National Children's Hospital.

In the East Quadrant, which covers Marikina, Pasig, Mandaluyong, and parts of Quezon City, the lead hospitals identified are Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center, and Quirino Memorial Medical Center.

The West Quadrant, covering Manila, Malabon, and Navotas, has Tondo Medical Center, San Lazaro Hospital, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, National Center for Mental Health, and Dr. Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center as designated facilities.
