DOH: COVID-19 cases decline nationwide

The Department of Health (DOH) reported a decline in the Philippines' COVID-19 infections, with cases continuously decreasing in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Luzon.

DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire agreed with infectious diseases expert Dr. Rontgene Solante that the country has likely surpassed the wave of infections caused by the Omicron BA.5 and BA.4 subvariants.

Vergeire clarified that Solante's statement referred to the surge in cases observed during June, July, and August.

While cases in Mindanao are plateauing and Visayas have seen a slow decrease, the NCR and Luzon areas are experiencing a sustained decline in infections.
