DOH confirms 217 COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths in PH

The Department of Health (DOH) announced that the Philippines has reached 217 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 17 recorded deaths and 8 recoveries.

Fifteen new cases were reported, increasing the national tally.

The DOH clarified that one of the previously reported fatalities, a 65-year-old male, is from Bulacan and not Pasig City.

The newly deceased include a 58-year-old male from Lanao del Sur with Malaysian travel history who died from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to COVID-19 and diabetes.

Another fatality is an 86-year-old female from San Juan City with no known travel history or exposure, who died from septic shock secondary to COVID-19 and had multiple chronic conditions.

The eighth recovered case is an 48-year-old Filipino male from Cavite with travel history to Japan, who was discharged after testing negative for COVID-19 twice.
