DOH: 2,314 healthcare workers infected with COVID-19

As of Monday, May 18, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,314 confirmed COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers.

Of these cases, 1,341 are active, with 992 being mild, 344 asymptomatic, four severe, and one critical.

The death toll among healthcare workers remains at 35.

Nurses and physicians continue to comprise the largest groups among infected healthcare workers, with 841 and 671 cases respectively.

Other medical professions with high case counts include nursing assistants (144), medical technologists (84), and radiologic technologists (42).

Over 280 other non-medical workers were also included in the tally.

Despite a recent decrease in infections, healthcare workers still account for 19 percent of the total nationwide infections.

The Philippines has logged 12,718 cases with 2,729 recoveries and 831 deaths as of Monday afternoon.
