DoE allows Meralco to start bidding for 200 MW of renewable supply
The Department of Energy (DOE) has approved Meralco's request to conduct an auction for 200 megawatts of renewable energy baseload supply.
Energy Undersecretary Mario C. Marasigan confirmed that the DOE issued a certificate of conformity (CoC) for Meralco's proposed competitive selection process (CSP).
The CSP is scheduled to begin on January 26, 2026, and aims to comply with the Renewable Portfolio Standards.
This new supply is meant to replace Meralco's previous baseload supply contract with ACEN Corp., which was terminated.
However, Meralco must first address recommendations from the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) before proceeding with the CSP.
