DND, AFP reaffirm commitment to Constitution amid calls for military withdrawal

The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have jointly reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the Constitution and democratic institutions.

This declaration comes in response to certain groups urging the military to withdraw support from the current government.

DND Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. and AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. labeled such politically motivated efforts to divert the AFP's focus as both futile and irresponsible.

The AFP, as a professional and nonpartisan entity, reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the Constitution and serving the Filipino populace.

Both the DND and AFP expressed their support for the President's anti-corruption drive, characterizing it as a crucial national endeavor for good governance.

The statement also firmly rejected any attempts by external groups to unduly influence the AFP or propose unconstitutional actions, emphasizing the military's adherence to the established Chain of Command.
