DND, AFP dismiss coup plot rumors as dangerous disinformation

The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have dismissed rumors of a coup plot as "outrightly preposterous" and "dangerous disinformation."

DND spokesperson Arsenio Andolong stated that the allegation of a DND-led coup plot is a "desperate attempt to propagate falsehood and sow discord."

He further described the claims as achieving nothing but creating confusion and pandering to adversarial narratives against the national government.

Both the DND and AFP affirmed their faithfulness to the country, the Constitution, and democratic institutions.

The AFP warned Filipinos against sharing or circulating the claims, calling them a "vile and malicious fabrication."

The DND urged the public to remain vigilant against disinformation and malign influence from both foreign and local entities.
