DMCI Mining subsidiary gets 25-year MPSA for Palawan nickel project

DMCI Mining Corp.'s subsidiary, Berong Nickel Corp. (BNC), has secured a 25-year mineral production sharing agreement (MPSA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for its Long Point Nickel Project in Aborlan, Palawan.

The MPSA covers 2,177.34 hectares and was signed on August 8.

This agreement grants BNC the exclusive right to explore, develop, and utilize mineral resources in the contract area, with an option for renewal for another 25 years upon registration with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).

The company has invested P1 billion since 2024 into fleet expansion, port infrastructure, exploration, and pre-operating expenses.

BNC has secured an environmental compliance certificate for an annual production capacity of 1 million wet metric tons (WMT).

Operations are targeted to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025, projected to generate over 1,000 jobs, with priority given to local residents and indigenous peoples.

BNC President Tulsi Das C. Reyes stated that the MPSA aims to create shared value through sustainable livelihoods, environmental protection, and local economic contribution.
