Dizon seeks private sector, int'l partners for NSCR

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon is urging international partners and the private sector to invest in the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project in the Philippines.

He stated that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is committed to providing Filipinos with public transport that they need and deserve, aligning with his vision for a commuter-centric system.

With support from international institutions like the Asian Development Bank and InfraAsia, Dizon believes the Philippines can develop a public transportation system comparable to those in more progressive nations.

The government has tapped the private sector to handle operations and maintenance of the NSCR through a Public-Private Partnership scheme.

The 147-kilometer NSCR line is scheduled for full operations by 2032.

Partial service from Valenzuela to Malolos, Bulacan is expected by December 2027, followed by the Malolos-Clark International Airport segment in October 2028.

Upon completion, the NSCR is projected to serve 750,000 passengers daily, significantly reducing travel times across Metro Manila and surrounding provinces.
