Dinagyang Festival to be showcased in Japan and New Zealand

The Iloilo Dinagyang Festival performers will showcase the festival's cultural significance, faith, unity, and creativity internationally through performances in Osaka, Japan in June and Auckland, New Zealand in November.

This marks the festival's return to the international stage after its last performance abroad in 2018, when 'Tribu Panayanon' performed in New York City for Philippine Independence Day.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed excitement for the opportunity to present the Dinagyang Festival to a global audience.

The Dinagyang Festival is a multi-awarded spectacle, holding the title of seven-time reigning champion of the Aliwan Fiesta.

It also received the Best Festival award at the 2024 Philippine Leaf Awards and was recognized as the Asia-Pacific Folklore Festival of 2024 by IFEA-Asia, being the sole recipient from the Philippines since IFEA's inception in 1956.
