DILG reminds voters vaccination proof needed for campaign events

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is reminding Filipinos that proof of vaccination is still required for attending campaign activities.

Supporters must present their vaccination cards or VaxCertPH digital certificates when attending rallies, caucuses, and other election-related gatherings.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution 10732 allows campaign activities up to 70 percent capacity under Alert Level 1.

DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya defended the shift to Alert Level 1, citing low-risk classifications, low hospital bed utilization, and high vaccination rates among the general population and senior citizens.

Face masks, hand hygiene, and vaccination rules remain in effect to manage potential surges.

The Department of Health (DOH) has not observed an increase in COVID-19 cases despite the ongoing campaign period for national candidates.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that most areas in the country are at minimal to low risk, with only two areas being monitored for moderate ICU utilization.

Nationwide, all regions were classified as low risk for COVID-19, excluding the Cordillera Administrative Region and the Davao Region.

The campaign period for national candidates began on February 8, while the period for local candidates will commence on March 25.
