DILG investigates data breach claims, hackers accessed 400GB of data

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is investigating claims of a data breach, with IT Expert Art Samaniego Jr. stating hackers obtained approximately 400 gigabytes of data.

A hacktivist group known as #HappyGoLuckyPH claims responsibility for the breach, posting screenshots of access to a DILG database containing over 113,000 files used for local government unit reporting, planning, and documentation.

Deep Web Konek, a cybersecurity monitoring group, stated that early verification of the screenshots suggests the data resembles genuine operational material.

The DILG affirmed that its technical teams and government cybersecurity units are conducting investigative steps, and has activated containment and security protocols.

The department will be coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group.

The public is urged to disregard unverified online posts concerning the alleged breach.
