DILG identifies VP of Bansud, Oriental Mindoro as owner of apt where DPWH official was arrested

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) identified Alma Mirano, the vice mayor of Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, as the owner of an apartment where a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) official was arrested.

DPWH Mimaropa official Engr. Dennis Abagon was apprehended on Sunday morning at the apartment in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City, based on a Sandiganbayan arrest warrant for a substandard flood control project.

Vice Mayor Mirano stated that Abagon was merely a tenant, renting the apartment since October 3, 2024, arranged by his staff.

She denied harboring or protecting Abagon, emphasizing she barely knew him and would never protect a "thief."

Mirano clarified that she cooperated with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents upon their arrival, directing them to Abagon's unit when she learned the target was a DPWH personnel.
