DigiPlus says its operations are not affected by POGO ban

DigiPlus Interactive (PLUS) has clarified that its operations are not affected by President Marcos's ban on Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

The company stated it is neither a POGO nor an Internet Gaming Licensee (IGL) as defined by Philippine laws, and has secured different licenses to operate traditional bingo, electronic bingo games, electronic gaming services, sports betting, specialty games, and poker.

DigiPlus president Andy Tsui explained that as a local digital gaming company, it caters to customers within the Philippines and is required to have physical branches nationwide, unlike POGOs which only cater to online gambling.

He added that local gaming operators must have physical gaming sites within the country before setting up digital platforms for local clients.

The clarification comes after DigiPlus shares fell following the announcement of the ban, which President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced during his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, citing links to money laundering and financial scams.
