DICT launches SE Asia's first drone medicine delivery in Rizal

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has successfully launched Southeast Asia's first drone-assisted medicine delivery service in Pililla, Rizal.

This initiative, a collaboration with mWell and Philippine Flying Labs, aims to overcome geographical barriers and logistical challenges in medicine access.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy highlighted that the program is part of the SMART Villages and SMART Islands (SVSI) framework.

The technology is intended to address life-threatening delays in medication and medical service access for Filipinos in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).

This pilot program will help identify challenges and refine the process before a nationwide deployment.

The DICT expects this program to enhance digital healthcare services and ensure GIDAs benefit from advanced e-health solutions.
