DFA studying Kuwait deployment ban after worker deaths

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is studying the possible effects of a deployment ban to Kuwait, according to Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.

This consideration follows the deaths of Filipino domestic workers in Kuwait, including Dafnie Nacalaban and Jenny Alvarado.

Senator Raffy Tulfo reiterated his call for a deployment ban on new Filipino household service workers to Kuwait.

Manalo stated that the proposal is still under evaluation, and no final decision has been made.

The DFA, in collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), is closely examining the issue, considering various factors.

The department aims to balance the protection of Filipino workers with the country's diplomatic relations with Kuwait.

The DFA is also awaiting the results of the investigation into Jenny Alvarado's death, with the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait working with Kuwaiti authorities.
