DepEd welcomes A4 priority status for education workers

The Department of Education (DepEd) expressed gratitude for the inclusion of teaching and non-teaching personnel in both public and private schools into the A4 priority category for COVID-19 vaccination.

DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones had appealed for this inclusion, which was approved by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

The IATF's Resolution No. 110 places front-line personnel from basic education and higher education institutions (HEIs) in the A4 priority list.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) welcomed the inclusion of education workers as frontliners but stressed that the government must still ensure safe, accessible, and quality education amid the pandemic.

ACT also called for the government to provide safe and effective anti-COVID-19 vaccines for all, hasten vaccination processes, and ensure transparency in vaccine procurement and rollout.
