DepEd investigates teacher for allegedly forcing student to eat cockroach

The Department of Education (DepEd) is conducting a swift investigation into a public school teacher in Tondo, Manila, who allegedly forced a student to eat a cockroach.

The incident reportedly occurred after the student caught the teacher molesting another pupil.

The teacher, aged 52, was arrested on December 12 and has since been released on bail.

DepEd has confirmed receiving the complaint and has initiated a simultaneous inquiry into the alleged molestation.

The agency has directed the relevant field office to implement immediate measures to protect the student involved, including providing psychosocial support and adjusting classes.

DepEd reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against violence within schools.
