DENR, CarbonPH Coalition boost forest carbon projects, Paris Agreement Article 6 implementation

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is strengthening its partnership with the CarbonPH Coalition to advance policies on forest carbon projects and the operationalization of Article 6 under the Paris Agreement.

Environment Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla led a dialogue with private sector leaders from the CarbonPH Coalition and the Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) Industry Group at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City.

The meeting aimed to explore integrating nature-based solutions into national climate strategies, emphasizing the need for government and business collaboration.

Discussions highlighted the importance of creating an enabling environment for sustainable investments that support climate goals and provide co-benefits for communities and ecosystems.

Secretary Lotilla underscored the crucial role of nature-based solutions in the Philippines' climate resilience framework, offering a path to protect forests and natural resources while fostering socio-economic gains.

The DENR stated that this collaboration between the government and private sector is paving the way for practical and sustainable solutions for a healthier future.
