The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched an investigation into Manila police officers accused of abducting, assaulting, and robbing two delivery riders.
The alleged incident occurred on September 9 during an anti-drug operation in Sampaloc, Manila.
One delivery rider, Nicole Owen Solleza, filed a complaint alleging he and a colleague were forcibly taken, beaten, and threatened with fabricated drug charges by the officers.
Solleza also claimed the officers attempted to extort money and valuables from them.
This incident is similar to a previous complaint filed by another delivery rider against the same officers.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has directed the National Capital Region Police Office to investigate the allegations.
The involved officers are facing administrative complaints including grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
Nartatez stated that those found guilty will face due process and appropriate charges.
