Defense Secretary, Rep. Gasataya honor frontliners on Independence Day

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana paid tribute to the country's frontliners on the Philippines' 122nd Independence Day for their unwavering dedication in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

He lauded the courage and sacrifice of doctors, nurses, health workers, soldiers, reservists, and civil defense workers who are risking their lives to provide essential supplies and services.

Lorenzana acknowledged that many frontliners have demonstrated patriotic duty selflessly, with some having made the ultimate sacrifice.

In Bacolod City, Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya also thanked the city's front-liners for their sacrifices in helping residents survive the pandemic.

Gasataya honored the heroes in the battle against the coronavirus disease 2019, stating that they "opted to stay outside and risk their lives when most of us were all asked to stay at home."

He stressed that unity and cooperation are crucial for Filipinos to strengthen their defense against the unseen enemy, adding that Bacolodnons should not forget those who serve out of the spotlight.
