DND chief: China govt fuels Sinophobia

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. stated that the Chinese government, not the Philippine government, is the main cause of Sinophobia.

Teodoro criticized the Chinese government for accusing the Philippines of inciting anti-Chinese sentiment.

He argued that the actions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and President Xi Jinping's overreach are what alienate both the global community and their own citizens.

Teodoro emphasized that the Chinese government is doing a great disservice by eroding trust among its own people.

He clarified that the issue is with the "dictatorship of the Chinese Communist Party" and not the Chinese people, stating that the CCP has "destroyed the goodwill and trust that people around the world... might have had for China."

Teodoro cited China's National Intelligence Law, passed in June 2017, which mandates Chinese nationals to be intelligence operatives for the Ministry of State Security.
