When asked about the West Philippine Sea, DeepSeek AI initially stated that the Philippines has the strongest legal claim under international law, but China maintains de facto control.

The chatbot has also apologized and stated it is 'not sure how to approach' questions asking to criticize Chinese President Xi Jinping.

DeepSeek AI has also retracted responses about subjects critical of the Chinese government, such as artist Ai Weiwei and the Dalai Lama, stating these topics are beyond its scope.
