De Lima names Duterte as mastermind of drug war killings

Former Senator Leila de Lima identified ex-President Rodrigo Duterte as the mastermind and instigator behind the drug war killings, asserting these actions constitute crimes against humanity.

She stated that the killings were systematic and began when Duterte was Davao City mayor, even before his presidency.

De Lima argued that Duterte should be prosecuted and convicted by the International Criminal Court for his crimes.

She made these assertions during a House Committee on Human Rights hearing focused on the drug war killings.

The former senator, who was previously jailed on drug-related charges, also noted that "Oplan Double Barrel" was a well-documented official PNP Operation Plan.

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde appeared as a resource person at the hearing.

The House Committee on Human Rights Chairperson, Bienvenido Abante Jr., emphasized the committee's commitment to fairness and justice.

Duterte's camp has not yet responded to requests for comment on de Lima's accusations.
