DBM releases additional P888M for HCW risk allowances

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released an additional P888.12 million to cover the special risk allowances (SRA) of public and private healthcare workers (HCWs) catering to COVID-19 patients.

These allowances are for eligible HCWs who directly handled or were in contact with COVID-19 patients from December 20, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

The total additional funds released by the DBM for SRA have reached P1.2 billion.

An additional P407.08 million will be charged against the FY 2021 Contingent Fund to complete the SRAs for an estimated 117,926 HCWs.

Previously, P311.79 million was released for the SRA of about 20,000 front-liners.

President Duterte had ordered the DBM and the Department of Health (DOH) to release the SRA of healthcare workers.
