DBM to finish salary adjustment study by June

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that a comprehensive study on adjusting the salaries of government workers will be finished by the first half of 2024.

This initiative, a collaboration between the DBM and the Governance Commission for Government-Owned or -Controlled Corporations (GCG), aims to create a competitive and fair compensation package for state employees.

The study will thoroughly examine the current compensation system, including salaries, benefits, and allowances, to identify areas needing improvement.

Budget Secretary Mina Pangandaman highlighted that the rising cost of basic commodities necessitates a review of government employees' current compensation.

A consultancy firm has been engaged to conduct this study, ensuring the proposed adjustments are financially sustainable and align with market practices.

The goal is to make government employment attractive and comparable to opportunities in the private sector, considering inflation and cost of living.
