Nograles challenges Duterte dynasty in Davao City mayoral race

Karlo Nograles is challenging the Duterte family's long-standing political dynasty for the mayoral position in Davao City, aiming to be the first non-Duterte to hold the post since 2001.

Nograles, an independent candidate and former Civil Service Commission chair, faces a formidable opponent in Rodrigo Duterte, who is seeking a comeback as mayor.

Rodrigo Duterte is running under the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod wing of the PDP-Laban party and remains under the custody of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.

Nograles expressed that it will be a unique situation if Rodrigo Duterte wins, considering his current detention.
