Dasmariñas Monarchs win fifth straight, inch closer to MPVA sweep

The Dasmariñas City Monarchs are on the verge of a first-round sweep in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) after securing their fifth consecutive win.

They defeated the San Juan Lady Knights in four sets (25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 25-10) at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Rookie Samantha Catanda led the Monarchs with 18 points, followed by Natasha Kaye Bombita with 13 points, Abegail Pono with nine, and Denesse Daylisan with seven.

The Monarchs, backed by the National University Lady Bulldogs, were able to showcase their deep bench as Vange Alinsug and Celine Marsh were not called into action.

The Lady Knights, despite the loss, had Mary Christine Ecalla scoring 11 points but fell to a 1-5 win-loss record.

Other teams like the Quezon Tangerines and Biñan Tatak Gel Arellano Lady Chiefs also secured wins to stay close to the Monarchs.
