DAR cancels P21M debts for 100 Nueva Ecija farmers

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has cancelled P21 million in debts for approximately 100 farmers in Nueva Ecija through land amortization condonation.

These agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) have been given Certificates of Condonation and land titles, granting them full ownership of their land.

The debt cancellation is part of Republic Act No. 11953, also known as the New Agrarian Reform Emancipation Act, which aims to relieve qualified farmers of unpaid land amortization.

DAR Assistant Secretary James Arsenio Ponce stated that this move will enable ARBs to concentrate on increasing their productivity and securing their long-term livelihoods.

Ponce further explained that the funds previously allocated for debt payments can now be redirected towards production needs.

Additionally, 102 ARBs from nine municipalities were awarded Certificates of Land Title Ownership covering 89.25 hectares of agricultural land.

This land titling was facilitated through the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project.

DAR Central Luzon Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Eric Francis Luna praised the government's dedication to the agrarian reform program.
