The Department of Agriculture (DA) has uncovered at least nine suspected "ghost" farm-to-market road projects in Mindanao, valued at an estimated P126 million.
These findings are part of an ongoing audit covering over 4,700 projects from 2021 to 2025, which is expected to be completed by year-end.
Seven of these suspected ghost projects are located in Davao Occidental and two in Lanao del Sur.
DA spokesman Arnel de Mesa stated that according to DA records and audits, these projects were not started, yet they appear as completed in the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) reports.
The cost of these projects varies, with three constructed before 2022 at a rate of P12 million per kilometer and six others after 2022 at P15 million per kilometer.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. initiated the audit following allegations of corruption in flood control projects.
